english translation
This time, we at Cathouse couldn't miss the chance to be at this festival, which saw the Swedish city of Malmö turn into the beating heart of international AOR and melodic rock, thanks to the third edition of Malmö Melodic hosted within the walls of Plan B. For obvious work reasons, we were only able to attend the first two days, but the atmosphere was electrifying right from the opening moments on Friday. The opening day started under the best possible auspices with Caught In Action, who immediately warmed up the audience with their exquisitely Scandinavian-flavored AOR, elevated by the experience of frontman Henrik Aalborg Brockman. Right after, the Swedish band Emotional Fire took control of the stage, bringing a breath of fresh, purely eighties-inspired energy that paved the way for Sarayasign's more epic and progressive textures. In the afternoon, Art Nation confirmed their solid reputation with a powerful, flawless set, followed by the electrifying Midnite City, who arrived from the UK packed with sleaze and infectious party anthems. Towards the evening, the emotional intensity rose dramatically with Eclipse—true giants of the modern Swedish melodic scene—who literally set the crowd on fire before leaving the stage for the highly anticipated headliner. Closing out the first day was left to Tyketto; Danny Vaughn and company delivered a monumental performance, revisiting the band's greatest classics and demonstrating extraordinary vocal and musical form that had the entire Plan B jumping. Saturday didn't lower the bar, kicking off at noon with an exclusive set by Constancia for VIP pass holders—a gem of refined melodic hard rock that paved the way for Mother Mersy's gritty, vibrant blues. In the early afternoon, Saffire tore through the air with their roots deeply anchored in classic Purple- and Rainbow-style hard rock, before making way for the explosive, highly modern energy of Swiss band Fighter V. The second half of the day was a crescendo of nostalgia and crystalline class, and that’s where the true miracle of the weekend took place. As far as I'm concerned, Canada's Boulevard were hands down the absolute best of the entire festival; their signature saxophone parts and flawless execution evoked the absolute perfection of AOR, delivering an indescribable thrill and a set that alone was worth the price of admission. Following them, Swedish legends Alien made everyone dream by dusting off the gems of their historical repertoire, introducing the final show beautifully. Crowning this second day were Hardline, fronted by Johnny Gioeli—a triumph of power and emotion where the timeless tracks from Double Eclipse rang out like everlasting anthems. For us, the festival ended here, exhausted but ecstatic after an event that confirms itself as unmissable for fans of the genre. What can we say... All in all, Sweden always delivers great emotions when it comes to our music, and once again, it didn't disappoint. It was fantastic to reunite with so many friends in front of the stage, share this passion, and soak in the great positive vibes felt in every corner of Plan B. Now back to our routine, eagerly waiting to discover what the line-up for Malmö Melodic 2027 will be. By the way, if you feel like joining the party: tickets for next year are already on sale! We at Cat House already have our eyes set on the next
