I Wizard Tattoo, frutto dell'ingegno del polistrumentista Bram the Bard, danno alla luce “Living Just for Knife Fighting” il 6 dicembre 2024. Questo album unisce l'energia viscerale degli EP “One of These Knive”s e “Living Just for Dying” in un'esperienza di ascolto coesa e potente.

Line-up: Bram the Bard – multi-instrumentalist
Tracklist: Living Just For Dying, The Wizard Who Loved Me, Tomorrow Dies, Sanity's Eclips, Varsak of Man, A Wizard's Blade, My Second Knife Fight, Edge of Reprisal, In the Meantime (Helmet), Dirty Black Summer (Danzig), Orgasmatron (Motörhead)
Of course, sometimes you go back to quoting things you've already heard; I'll do the same thing today. Putting this album on the table, which is not just an album, this is a car album: whether you're going 130 miles an hour (because we respect the speed limit) in the third lane of the motorway, or you're strolling at 20 miles an hour on a country road with your better half, this album always has something suitable for the situation. Wizard Tattoo, the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Bram the Bard, will release “Living Just for Knife Fighting” on December 6, 2024. This album combines the visceral energy of the EPs “One of These Knive”s and “Living Just for Dying” in a cohesive and powerful listening experience. But it also adds a little something: 3 really spot-on final covers. “Living just for diyng” is an epic intro, the warm voice intertwines with the dry strings of the guitar in a slow and cadenced walk by moonlight. It echoes the first song: “The wizard who loved me” which, hooking up with the previous one, starts with a guitar more tending towards flamenco and a softer and almost wavering female voice, until minute 3, where an electric guitar enters decisively but cautiously, almost to break the didactic monotony of the background. We change atmosphere decidedly with “Tomorrow dies”, where the voice becomes masculine again and aggressive and “dirty”; the drums mark the time giving an increasingly faster carpet to the guitar, which becomes more melodic, while the voice exalts all its vocal cords in a mix of spoken and classy shouting. Santy's eclipse” returns to the beginning, the voice is warm and clean, the guitar strings dry and “flamenco” again. Sudden change of pace around minute 2.30, where the melody takes an important turn, percussions appear and the cadence becomes more decisive, the background has new instruments, almost as if it wanted to timidly accompany the bass, which appears as the protagonist at the beginning of “Varsak of man”, where a hard rock background and a finely engaging guitar, support the voice: this time a middle way between what we have heard so far, neither too dirty nor too clean. The guitar takes over with continuous solos: almost as if to say: finally! “A wizard blade” is reminiscent of the legendary “planet caravan” by Black Sabbath, but with a deep involvement: almost as if one were hearing ancestral voices coming from a stream that flows clear water. A purification of the soul, with eyes closed while everything continues to flow inside us. A disconcerting start, in full Ministry style, for “My second knife fight” with the “dancing” melody in the background, one might say, the guitar and drums have fun running on the precise and clean rails while the voice tells its story, a solo intertwined with voice and percussion, then just over halfway, a beautiful melodic outburst with unison of instruments and voice, as if joining arm in arm to complete this beautiful journey. We return to the beginning with “Edge of reprisal”, as if it were a new intro to a second part of the album: basically the cover part. We start with “Helmet” in this “In the meantime”, a piece that remains faithful to the original, but gives much more personal sounds, always maintaining a deep respect. It follows “Dirty black summer” famous piece by “Danzig”: also in this case, an excellent cover, which maintains its own identity, adding that personal touch in the sound and energy, always dirtied by nature. The last piece of the album is “Orgasmatron” by Motorhead, where the voice adapts perfectly and the melody seems almost written for Wizard Tattoo, so also in this case, the changes compared to the original are really minimal. An album in some points a bit too repetitive, which taken in blocks is really exciting but precisely, which occasionally tends to repeat what has already been heard. A good starting point on which to expect considerable future growth
