English translation: Hailing from the fertile rock terrain of Gothenburg, Sweden, Smoking Snakes move effortlessly between the coordinates of sleaze metal and Octantian-style hard rock. With a sound that combines the steely swagger of historic bands like Mötley Crüe and Ratt with the street energy of fellow Swedish bands Hardcore Superstar and Crashdïet, the Swedish quartet has made the live dimension their natural habitat. After attracting critical and public attention in 2024 with their blistering debut “Danger Zone”, the band continued to rack up miles on European stages, sharpening their weapons for this long-awaited return. Under the skilful production of Jack Stroem and the signature of Frontiers Music Srl, the Smoking Snakes return today with an even more cohesive formula, where punk attitude and big stadium chants merge to hold aloft the flag of the most brazen and visceral rock. Italian fans still have the band's devastating set in their eyes at the latest Frontiers Rock Festival, held in early May at the Live Music Club in Trezzo sull'Adda. Having been added to the lineup practically at the last minute due to sudden changes in the label's lineup, the Smoking Snakes were not asked to pray. They took to the stage on day three hungry for those who have to smash everything, turning a last-second addition into one of the most energetic and memorable moments of the entire festival, confirming that their true strength lies precisely in their live impact. To make sure we didn't miss anything, we also decided to ask Andy Delarge a couple of questions: What was it like playing at the Frontiers Festival? “It was a mix of emotions, really. First of all, surprise. We got the call just a few days before the festival to replace another band. It was an incredible opportunity, but at the same time it was unfortunate because they were a band we really respect and enjoy. You never want to get an opportunity because someone else got injured or sick. Then came the excitement. It was our first time in Italy and our first time playing Frontiers Festival, which is one of those festivals we've dreamed about for a long time. And finally, pure happiness. We got to meet so many people who had been listening to our music for years but whom we'd never had the chance to meet in person. Sharing the stage with artists like John Corabi, Nelson and Stryper was surreal. We also met a lot of amazing musicians at the hotel, and honestly, one of the best parts was hanging out and partying together after the show. Those are the kinds of memories you carry with you forever. It wasn't just another gig—it was an experience we'll never forget.” How did this album come about? The album came together quite naturally. After releasing Danger Zone, we immediately started working on All Lights On, because we had a much clearer idea of the musical direction we wanted to take. We didn't want to repeat the same formula. Instead, we wanted to sound a little different and explore new ideas. We spent almost a year writing the songs and then around four months in the studio recording them. Throughout the whole process, our goal was simple: to write songs that people would have fun listening to. Big choruses, memorable riffs, and the kind of music that makes you want to turn the volume up and sing along. Basically, we just wanted people to have fun. Brett and I had a very clear vision of how we wanted the album to sound, and I think that's what gives All Lights On its personality. We challenged ourselves to write better songs without losing the raw energy that defines Smoking Snakes. In the end, we feel this album represents who we are much better than ever before. We never tried to chase trends or write what we thought people wanted to hear. We simply wrote the kind of album we would love to listen to ourselves. I think that's why it feels so honest.” And he also said: “One thing people often ask us is where the name Smoking Snakes comes from. It's actually inspired by the Brazilian Expeditionary Force in World War II, whose soldiers became known as the "Smoking Snakes." The name comes from the old saying, "It's more likely for a snake to smoke than for Brazil to go to war." When Brazil did join the war, the soldiers embraced the phrase as a symbol of determination and resilience. We thought it was a powerful story and a name that perfectly captured the attitude we wanted the band to have.”
