Cosa dire in conclusione? Bravi!

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

There are many records, here at Cathouse web, of various genres, obviously all always part of a "group" of sounds covered by our project. A lot of news arrives' and, often, they are all of fair if not good and some of them are of excellent quality. We like to review the best records or, at least, those that in our humble opinion, are worth a listen and above all a purchase. This time we are in the presence of this band, this powerful trio of Finnish musicians who have given birth to a self-titled album full of adrenaline, originality and aggressiveness assisted by the right amount of melody and captivating chorus line that stick in the brain. Theirs is a modern rock that also mixes sounds dear to the eighties, sprinkles of hard rock, something grunge, punk energy, acid rock and a dose of alternative rock. All this makes this full length album a small concentrate of robust rock'n'roll with a thousand facets but, its main quality is that it has managed to capture me with - finally - something original; I listen to dozens of interesting albums and they are often reviewed well if the musical quality is present but, the difficult thing is to find something that knows how to catalyze attention and is the master of its own strong personality'. Here, Luponero, despite not having invented anything new, have been able to raise their sound above the average of many record releases of recent times. The album opens with "Everything Nothing", a song that starts with a crescendo of power like a punch straight to the stomach, tight rhythms, a scratchy and "acid" singing at the right point, all supported by a corrosive and sharp guitar work. Song forerunner engaging in his sick aggressiveness! The following "Bipolaroids" calms the atmosphere a little by offering us a nice rock, sometimes even commercial with tasty refrains, a song – if you want – even radio. Instead, we return to rock with more energy with "Killing Time" which winks at modern rock and alternative rock of the late nineties; Heikkinen's work on the six strings is pleasant, and the rhythm section and the vocal interpretation of the good vocalist are equally apt. It continues with a melodic song, "Running On Empty", not a ballad mind you, but an excellent track of elegant rock, well arranged and full of airy atmospheres with a wide scope. "Helsinki Intersection Mindfunk" is absolutely the pearl of this album; a concentrate of punk and acid rock rage that seems to exhume the most violent scores of Mr. Iggy Pop hurls itself through the headphones into the ears of the unwary listener and the desire to take, get on the living room chair and do stage diving becomes a harsh reality. Coarse, irreverent and cheeky. Well done! The successful "Sapiens" is a tantalizing up tempo dedicated to a rock'n'roll excellently arranged and played, with a very apt refrain, and capable of making even a zombie dance! "Angelo" starts slowly with a hint of the song "Mamma" by Beniamino Gigli (?!?!) yes, you read that right, hummed just for those few seconds while the actual song wraps itself up and settles on a persuasive pop rock that lulls us for its (almost) four minutes. We return to more sustained rhythms with the crackling "Pickup Artist", an energetic and sparkling (pop) rock, modern in its arrangement and pleasant and bewitching at the same time. The album closes with "the Aerosmithian" "Burden" and the final "The End", another song that focuses more on a harmonic/melodic impact with a very Abba oriented refrain. What can I say in conclusion? This "Luponero" stands among the top releases of this very first part of 2025 and I am sure it will capture the attention of many admirers. Good!
